Folder 1 includes correspondence and papers relating to the Committee on the Freedom of the Press, chaired by Lord Shawcross. It includes minutes, agendas and correspondence with the aforementioned Lord Shawcross (amongst others) on the administration of the committee, (1966-67).

Folder 2 contains correspondence and papers relating to the Quinquennial Conference of 1970. Papers are mainly administrative, and are concerned primarily with arrangements for a dinner party, to be held by LP Scott, on behalf of the Commonwealth Press Union, at the National Liberal Club, on October 12, 1970, although some minutes, agendas and other administrative papers are also included. Dinner party attendees include delegates from New Zealand, Australia, the West Indies, Canada, Bermuda and India.

Folder 3 contains correspondence with and papers from Lionel Cross concerning applications for the post of secretary to the Commonwealth Press Union, with comments on individuals recommended, (1969).

Folder 4 contains administrative documents, regarding a presentation made to Lionel Cross, upon his retirement as secretary of the Commonwealth Press Union, in 1970. A list of contributors to the fund is included.

Folder 5 contains correspondence and papers relating to in-formal dinner discussions held by members of the Commonwealth Press Union. Possible subjects for discussion are included, as are lists of attendees, and notes on reports made by guest speakers, (1969-1974).
