AbstractThis book tells of John Stalker's experiences when, as Deputy Chief Constable of the Greater Manchester Police Force, he undertook an enquiry into the murders of six men in Northern Ireland in 1982. Stalker relates how his investigation met resistance from the Royal Ulster Constabulary, and includes details of his relationships with Sir John Hermon, James Anderton and Colin Sampson, high-ranking police officers involved in the investigation. Stalker also tells of the suffering he and his family went through during the investigation. He discusses the implications of the possible corruption in this affair for future police and security operations in Northern Ireland after 1988.
