Description | On 13th November the capital punishment bill was put before parliament, heralding a long-awaited end to hanging in Britain. Meanwhile, despite criticism of President Hendrik Verwoerd's apartheid regime in South Africa, Britain agreed to honour its contract to supply 16 Bristol Buccaneer fighter aircraft, though no further orders would be accepted. Here, Abu depicts two politicians stood before several large cranes with nooses attached to ends of levers. |
