DescriptionDouble sided reporter's notebook, written mostly in shorthand, containing notes taken by Sanger in his role as Guardian UN correspondent including: the withdrawal of troops from Yugoslavia; the Vietnam war; arms supply to the Middle East; sanctions against Southern Rhodesia; Arab-Israeli conflict; Britain's NIBMAR (no independence before majority rule) policy; Portuguese colonial rule in Mozambique; the role of the Commonwealth; UN resolution 233 and concerns on the outbreak of fighting in the Middle East; and the Zimbabwe War of Independence.

The book also contains notes relating to Canada including: British week in Toronto; Glendon College and 'The Quiet Revolution' in Quebec; and relations between Quebec and France.

Names featured include: [Reuben] Kamanga, [William] Dennison, [Anthony] Crosland, Lester B. Pearson, [Muhammad] Zafarullah Khan, [George] Ignatieff, Ian Douglas Smith, [Heward] Grafftey, [Eric] Keirans and [René] Lévesque.

Transcribed in 2021 as part of the Clyde Sanger shorthand transcription project with funding from The National Archives 'Collaborate and Innovate Testbed Fund. The pdf transcription document also contains a digitised copy of the notebook.
