Admin HistoryAt the age of 15 Eward (Ted) Hamilton West joined the Evening Standard as a messenger and later went on to work as dark room assistant. He was given his first job as a photographer by Barrett's photographic agency. In 1962 he joined the Central Press Agency. In 1970 he moved to the Guardian and remained there until his retirement in 1996. His byline at the Guardian was always E Hamilton West.
Custodial HistoryTransferred from the Guardian's picture library in 2005.
