Creator Name | Baistow; Enoch Thomas (1914-1999); Journalist |
Description | In 1948 Baistow started writing poetry in gaelic and broadcasting on BBC. This file appears to include work produced during this period of Baistow's career, however the majority of the pieces are undated. It contains a selection of poems, feature articles and scripts, but the intended use for many of these is unclear.
There are a number of poems from the Tell Me If It Hurts series, which relate to current affairs stories of the time and may have appeared as part of a regular newspaper or magazine column.
The file also includes a selection of notes, drafts and appendices for The Establishment, it is unclear whether this was intended for radio or television transmission.
Also included is a script for Deviation At The Digs, along with with handwritten scene notes.
Baistow wrote for the radio show, London magazine. It opened and closed with the reading of a poem, some of which are in this file, (1950-51).
There is a entry for the Narrative Poem Section of the Scots Poetry Competition for the Festival of Britain, presumably written by Baistow under the alias Achvraid, (1951).
The most recent dated piece in the file is a book review of The Iconoclast, written by Baistow, (29 May 1958, unknown publication), |
