They include correspondence with JP Mallalieu, MP and others, on the liquidation of Prior Engineering Co Ltd (1952); with the National Trust, on returning as vice-president of the Manchester centre (1958, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1966, 1968), and on attending the Annual General Meeting (1960, 1962); with the Oxford Union Society on contributing to a debate (1967); with Punch magazine on attending a lunch party (1970); with Maclean Patterson, in Baltimore, USA, on the continuing relationship between Le Monde and the Guardian Weekly (1972); with Terence Prittie on the decision to withdraw a Guardian correspondent from Germany (1971); with the National Society of Operative Printers and Assistants on administration of the organisation, and their merger with the National Union of Printing, Bookbinding and Paper Workers to form the new Society of Graphical and Allied Trades (1972); with Bertram Nelson, chairman of the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo Ltd on his appointment (1972); with the town clerk, on the relationship between the Guardian and Manchester City Council, and the publication of articles he finds disagreeable [enclosed], and with Alastair Hetherington on the same (1973); with Bertram Nelson, on arranging a meeting and tour of the Liverpool Daily Post premises, and a memo on Scott's thoughts on the visit (1973) and correspondence with Sir Roy Pinsent on the Westminster Theatre, London (1973).
