Description | Colour advert with sound for the Guardian. The advert intially features a black screen with the text 'A message from The Guardian'. This is followed by images of Europe against a backdrop of fireworks.
Commentary: "A message from the Guardian newspaper. At a recent Downing Street briefing, Peter Mandelson, the Northern Ireland Secretary, specifically requested that the Guardian and other national newspapers should not focus on the issue of Europe before the next election. Starting tomorrow in the Guardian, we devote a 20-part pull out section examining every single aspect, every argument, every nuance of every argument in the most comprehensive newspaper review ever on the issue of Europe".
The advert ends with an explosion sound effect followed by upbeat music and the tagline: 'The full debate on Europe. Between now and the election.'
The following strapline is presented in a label-like graphic: 'The Guardian. Fresh Angle. Sell by: 7/12/2000.'
Duration: 35 seconds. The advert starts at 01.02 on the mp4 file. |
