Description | Professional correspondence sent to and from Hugo Young during 1984.
The early letters cover the end of his employment at the Sunday Times which Hugo Young left in March 1984. There are letters from colleagues, friends and members of the public sending farewell wishes, including letters from: William Rees-Mogg John Tusa Bernard Ingham Bel Mooney Robert Worcester David Owen Viscount Whitelaw Sir Denis Hamilton Harold Evans Ian Gilmour Tony Benn Includes copies of invitations to his leaving party and a list of guests. Also includes letters to congratulate Hugo Young on winning Columnist of the Year which he was awarded in March 1984, a newspaper cutting detailing his win and a column 'Victorious Hugo' written by Roy Hattersley.
The remaining correspondence is related to his subsequent employment as political columnist of the Guardian newspaper.
