Clearly she is the main attraction of the ball, where meanwhile Edwina stands alone in the foreground holding a handkerchief and sobbing. The third panel indicates that time has passed. Edwina, with tears in her eyes, says to Harriet (who is arm in arm with a man): "I'm strong, dedicated, honest, with qualities of leadership - yet YOU get their vote!!!" Edwina then demands in the next panel that Harriet "Let me [Heath] in on your secret!!!" In the final panel, Edwina finally acknowledges the halo [possibly a ring of smoke from Wilson's pipe?] which floats above Harriet's head. Asking what it is, it is revealed as "The Wilson ring of confidence!!" |
