DescriptionEleven cricketers are seated in a coffin labelled 'London' in the centre of this cartoon. A religious figure noted as the 'Council of Churches' addresses them, saying "Dolly to Dolly... Ashes to Ashes". Barbed wire surrounds the coffin. In the bottom left, [Dr Balthazar Johannes Vorster] is pointing towards the coffin and saying "Quick man! The Commonwealth Games team needs their hearts now!" A man dressed as a surgeon follows, holding a bag labelled 'Groote Schuur'. Just beside them to the left is a small sign which indicates this area as a 'Minefield'. To the right of the doctor, a man holds a sign which reads '11 men to defend thank you'. He says "Of course the left-overs will help darkie cricketers everywhere - except S Africa of course". Elsewhere, the press gather and say "Anyway, no news is good news, isn't it?" while a man labelled 'TUC' says "Everybody out!" Two people hold signs that say 'Boks go!' and 'Go home' in the background, while to the left Harold Wilson can be seen talking to a policemen and saying "You know, I'd like to see everyone turn out to protest". The policeman responds to this by saying "Sorry - I'll be working".
