| Description | This cartoon shows three pictures of Margaret Thatcher, the first one shows Thatcher, James Prior, and possibly [Tom King]. Thatcher says 'Not without a referendum...' to an Irish leader holding out a sheet that says 'Irish Unity' on it while the other two watch from behind her. Picture two has Thatcher saying again 'Not without a referendum...' to a man dressed like a Lord Mayor, holding out a box that says 'Supplementary Rates,' while Michael Heseltine stands beside her. The final cartoon has Thatcher yelling at a crowd of people 'What the hell do the public know anyway?' The people are holding signs that say 'Ban the nukes!' No to Cruise!' 'Don't be vague listen to Haig!' and 'Yanks go home.' Possibly [Michael Howard] watching behind her. |
