DescriptionThis cartoon is a four picture story. Margaret Thatcher is reading a bedtime story titled 'The Water and Sewage Babies' to a little boy labelled as 'Unions'. In the first picture 'Unions' is happy, but picture by picture he gets more and more upset, so by the fourth picture he gets up and leaves. In the first picture Thatcher says, 'However, it didn't take Tom long to realise that personal freedom was all very fine...', in the second picture Thatcher says, 'but floundering around polluting the nation's water was following a red herring...', in the third 'Oh, how he longed for those Victorian values of discipline and hard work...', and in the fourth, 'And so he gratefully returned to his benevolent master and lived happily ever after up the chimney!'
