| Description | Depicts a mountain labelled as 'Higher education' with a group of graduates on bicycles on top of it. They are waiting to go ride and jump off the mountain slope. The slope is labelled 'Spending Cuts.' One graduate, labelled 'Academic Careers,' rides off the slope looking worried. Another graduate, labelled 'Research' falls off his bicycle. At the bottom of the slope are a pile of people and crushed bicycles labelled 'The Nation's Long-Term Future'. A sign at the bottom reads 'Prepare to meet thy Don.' At the side of the mountain Keith Joseph shouts "Next competitor - on your bike!" Beside him at a table labelled 'Monetarist Sports Judges' are Margaret Thatcher and Geoffrey Howe, not really paying attention. On the far left is Michael Foot as a rescue dog with a barrel of brandy around his neck looking worried.
[This may refer to the spending cuts imposed on the education system, especially universities]. |
