About 50,000 council manual workers were on official strike and the unions planned to bring out another 100,000 employees including dustmen, sewage disposal workers, drivers, cemetery staff and abattoir employees to join the industrial action in support of the claim for a 55s. a week rise for 800,000 council workers. |
