Admin History | Nicola Jennings was brought up in Somerset, and attended St Mary's School, Ascot. Her further education took her to Taunton Art School, 1976-1977, and Wimbledon School of Art, 1977-1980, where she studied theatre design. Nicola spent several years working backstage in theatre and illustrating books before joining The London Daily News in 1987 as a caricaturist. Five months later she moved to the Daily Mirror where she drew caricatures for the television pages until 1996. She also worked for the Sunday Times during this period. Nicola has worked for The Observer since 1990, and The Guardian since 1991, as well as Prospect magazine. Her work has also appeared in numerous other publications and television works including Channel 4's A Week in Politics (1995-1997), and BBC 2's Midnight Hour (1994). She has also provided illustrations for Quentin Bett's ''50 People Who Buggered Up Britain' and 'Bog Standard Britain'. Nicola won Caricaturist of the Year 2008. She creates her illustrations using dip pen and ink on paper. An archive of her cartoons which have been featured in The Guardian is available on The Guardian website. |
