- Minutes, memos and internal correspondence sent and recieved by Roger Harrison, including correspondence relating to the volume of Trade Union disputes dealt with by The Observer in this period of time and their financial impact on the newspaper (1976-1984).
- External correspondence sent to National Society of Operative Printers and Media Personnel (NATSOPA), Society of Graphical and Allied Trades (SOGAT), National Graphical Association (NGA), Electrical, electronic Telecommunications and plumbing union (EEPTU), Society of Lithographic Artists, designers, engravers and process workers (SLADE) and the Amalgamated union of engineering workers (AUEW). Subjects covered include: salary increases for Machine Managers, lieu days, increased pagination, redundancy payments, overtime, Christmas working arrangements, compassionate and paternity leave agreements suggested by NGA (1974-1985) and a clerical claim (1974).
- External correspondence to Trade Union representatives outlining measures The Observer has undertaken to improve its financial situation; the creation of more advertising space; coverage of the Nixon story and the Transatlantic Race (26 March 1976). Also includes a letter from Roger Harrison stating that he is leaving The Observer and naming his successor, Nick Morrell (18 February 1987). |
