| Description | Staff files containing contracts and correspondence relating to the employment of Observer staff members. Most staff have individual files, although where there are few records relating to a staff member these have been grouped together in 'general' files according to surname. This series is divided into 'dead' and 'live' files, plus one further small series of alphabetical files, to reflect the way the files were stored at the Observer at the time of its purchase by the Guardian in 1993. These files all relate to editorial members of staff, and appear to have been maintained by the managing editors' office of the paper, rather than a separate personnel department. |
