| Description | Corespondence and other records concerning relations between the Observer and NATSOPA.
The records have been split into three files containing correspondence relating to: staff disputes, union membership, member contributions, negotiations about overtime, wages, flexibility of working week, working hours, maternity, overtime and retirement, as well as NATSOPA membership leaflets. Each file also includes the following:
File 1 (1926-1969), including:
- NATSOPA information booklet (July 1955).
- Tristan Jones' correspondence (1953 - 1966).
File 2 (1969-1974), including:
- Correspondence from NATSOPA stating that the amalgamation of NATSOPA and SOGAT has dissolved (4 February 1972).
File 3 (1975-1985):
- NATSOPA prize-giving invitation (10 June 1971).
- SOGAT annual dinner invitation (16 February 1974).
- Correspondence about NATSOPA strike (September 1982).
- SOGAT Clerical House agreement (31 August 1984).
- Correspondence and memos mainly sent by Jean Atkinson (Personnel Manager) about members of staff and job positions at the Observer (1982-1986). |
