DescriptionThese photographs were taken to mark the centenary of the Manchester Guardian in 1921. They record employees of all departments at the time, from editorial and advertising to cleaners and type casters. It is likely that the photographs, which were taken onto 4.5 x 6.5" glass plates, are by the paper's first staff photographer, Walter Doughty. This collection consists of a single photo album, incomplete series of original glass plate negatives and loose prints, some of which have been mounted onto card. Some members of staff are identified within the album; this information has been duplicated within the catalogue where relevant.
