Description | Margaret Thatcher and Geoffrey Howe are depicted being hauled out of the water by a crane in a car labelled 'Friedman rentals'. A plaque with the slogan 'Just monetariser' hangs off the back of the car. The car has driven off the end of a quarry with signs reading 'slow' and 'turn back!' on the roadside. There is a 'dead end' sign at the end of the quarry. Thatcher is looking at a map in the back of the car while Howe argues with a man in a Union Jack hat in the passenger seat. There are three figures in the water; Jim Prior, who gestures in exasperation at the car and Edward Heath, who is lying on his back relaxing. A female figure is also depicted with the word 'wets' written on the back of her wetsuit. Two men form the rescue team, 'Thorneycroft & Pym Salvage', haul the car out of the quarry.
The accompanying article in the Guardian was titled 'Why the time is ripe for Tory union-bashing'. |
